  • Product description
    Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. It belongs to the group fluoroquinolones. Cipro is used to treat anthrax and other ailments other than bacterial infections.
    Dosage
    It should be taken every 12 hours following the directions prescribed.
    Do not increase or reduce the dosage or take it longer than recommended without the advice of your doctor.
    Take it with a full glass of water and take extra glasses of water each day when taking this drug.
    The medication may be taken with food or without but take it at the same time each dosage day.
    Avoid dairy products or any calcium rich foods as they may make the drug less effective.
    Shake the liquid suspension for a few seconds about 15 then measure with the special measuring spoon or cup. Ask your pharmacist if you don’t have measuring equipment.
    Do not give the oral suspension through a feeding tube.
    Swallow the liquid and don’t chew the small pieces you may feel in your tongue.do not stop its use before the prescribed period elapses even if you are feeling better already. This increases your risk of resistance to further treatment.
    Don’t share the medication with another person even if their symptoms are similar to yours.
    Storage
    Store in a dry place at room temperature away from light and heat.
    Do not allow it to freeze
    Throw away if the liquid remains unused after 14 days.
    Side effects
    Cipro may cause swelling and tearing of tendon connecting bones to body like the Achilles’ tendon at the heel. This is more common if you are over 60 years of age, have a kidney, heart or lung transplant or is taking steroid medication. It may happen during drug use or even months after stopping its use.
    May cause sudden pain, stiffness, swelling, tenderness, bruising or movement problems in the joints.
    Precautions
    Do not take Cipro if you are on tizanidine.
    If you have a muscle disorder you may not take this medication, let your doctor be aware of any condition or history such as myasthenia gravis.
    Stop the use of this medication if you develop any side effects suddenly and call your doctor.
    Do not take Cipro if you have the following:
    Allergic to fluoroquinolones like gemifloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin and others.
    Heart rhythm disorder especially if you are on medication for it.
    Tendon problems like arthritis or joint problems especially in children.
    Nerve or muscle disorder.
    Liver or kidney disease.
    Seizure or epilepsy.
    Low levels of potassium in the body.
    If you are on blood thinners like warfarin.
    It is not known if Cipro can harm an unborn baby, discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant or is planning to conceive.
    It passes into breast milk so don’t use it while breastfeeding as it may harm the baby.
    Avoid the following medication 6 hours before and 2 hours after taking Cipro Australia as they will interfere with its proper function: antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, didanosine powder or tablets, supplements containing zinc, calcium or iron.  Also avoid caffeine as this medication can make the effects of caffeine stronger.

    Avoid sunlight or tanning bed as your skin may burn faster than expected causing injury.
